A few weeks ago my friends, Acres of Lions had their album release party at Lucky Bar in Victoria, BC.
The boys in Acres of Lions are the hardest working rock and roll band out there. They’ve basically been on tour for the better part of the last two years. It’s understandable that their latest album “Home(s)” is about being on the road.
Much like The Wheat Pool’s “Township,” Home(s) reads like a subtle love letter to Canada and the road. Every time I listen to their new record I feel it. The Trans-Canada beneath my feet, or the rails or Europe calling my name.
I always have a blast at any Acres of Lions show. It’s like a reunion. I see all the people I used to know from the Victoria indie scene from back in the day, radio personalities I used to work with, and all of those amazing people in the Victoria photography scene. Acres certainly knows how to bring the best out, and that’s because they are one of the best bands to come out of the Capital City.
